NATCOL was founded in 1979 in Basle, Switzerland. It is an international body acting on behalf of the natural food colour industry. The association has the purpose of promoting the use of natural colours in food, feed, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products. Especially, NATCOL promotes the common interests as well as the mutual protection of its members. In furtherance of this objective the association fosters individual and joint contacts between its members and national/international authorities and organisations.

Areas of Involvement

NATCOL offers national and international authorities and organisations expertise regarding natural colours. It also supports the food processing industry by supplying it, through the individual members, with up-to-date technical advice about natural colours.

Meetings have been convened in a country of choice of one of the members, who act as host.NATCOL attends various regulatory meetings of individual European governments, EU and FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius.

NATCOL further maintains regular contact with the North American International Association of Color Manufacturers (IACM) and the Japanese association of food colour manufacturers SANSHOKU KAI.
