NATCOL
was founded in 1979 in Basle, Switzerland. It is an international body acting
on behalf of the natural food colour industry. The association has the purpose
of promoting the use of natural colours in food, feed, cosmetics and pharmaceutical
products. Especially, NATCOL promotes the common interests as well as the
mutual protection of its members. In furtherance of this objective the association
fosters individual and joint contacts between its members and national/international
authorities and organisations.
Areas of Involvement
NATCOL offers national and international authorities and organisations expertise
regarding natural colours. It also supports the food processing industry
by supplying it, through the individual members, with up-to-date technical
advice about natural colours.
Annual General Assemblies - NATCOL convenes one Annual General Meeting (AGM)
per year. The 35th AGM scheduled for May 2009 is going to be held in Hamburg. Meetings have been convened in a country
of choice of one of the members, who act as host.NATCOL
attends various regulatory meetings of individual European governments,
EU and FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius.
NATCOL further maintains regular contact
with the North American International Association of Color Manufacturers
(IACM) and the Japanese association of food colour manufacturers SANSHOKU
KAI. NATCOL is a member of the European Liaison Committee (ELC) comprising
various associations of food additive manufacturers.
